Rev. George H. White Jr., born on July 3, 1930, in Dothan, Alabama, passed away on April 21, 2024, at his residence. He leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication in various fields throughout his life.
A highly accomplished individual, Rev. White pursued education extensively, attaining a master's degree in theology from Drew University, a master's degree in education as well as Masters Deree in Music from Rutgers University. He also earned a PHD in Psychology from Montclair University. His thirst for knowledge was evident in his diverse career choices wherein he served as a Music Teacher for the Cranford and Elizabeth, NJ Public School Systems. In addition to that role, he held positions such as Chair of Ethics, Logic, and Religion, Director of Security, and Assistant to the President at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ.
Rev. George H. White was joined in Holy Matrimony to Charlie Mae Williamson on July 21, 1976. This wonderful couple remained together until Charlie Mae's passing on June 1, 2014.
Reverend White's spiritual journey was rich and fulfilling as he pastored multiple churches including the First Baptist Church of Cranford, NJ; Elmwood Presbyterian Church of East Orange, NJ; Central Brick Presbyterian Church of East Orange, NJ; and finally, The Martin Luther King Jr. Presbyterian Church of Neptune NJ.
His impact extended beyond educational institutions and churches. Reverend White's dynamic personality was a blend of compassion, care, and an unwavering sense of duty towards others. Though stern when needed, his caring nature shone through in his proudest accomplishments such as becoming a Reverend, visiting local VA hospitals to offer prayers to patients, and serving God and God's people selflessly.
In his leisure time, Rev. White found solace in playing the organ. Passersby on Frank Street in Roselle could always count on being treated to impromptu musical concerts by this talented musician.
Rev. George H. White Jr.'s life was enriched by the presence of his deceased family members including his wife Charlie Mae White; father George H. White Sr.; mother Pearl White; brothers Edward White, David A. White, Carl White; and daughter Melonie B. Prather.
He is survived by cherished family members including his children; Kevin J. Williamson (Joyce), George H. White III (Juanita), Kimberly J. White, William D. White, Lee Anne Stradford; brother Lawrence White; along with host of other family members.
Rev. George H. White Jr.'s lasting contributions to education, spirituality, and community service will be remembered fondly by all whose lives he touched. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations to serve with love and compassion as he did throughout his remarkable life.
