Georgette Hudson better known as Joy, was born on February 4th, 1945, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Elizabeth, NJ, and went on to glory June 13th 2024. She was the third child of Granville and Sarah Bailey. Georgette attended Abraham Lincoln Grammar School in Roselle, NJ, and then went on to Abraham Clark High School. Joy proceeded to start her nursing career at Delaire Nursing Home, eventually advancing to Cranford Nursing Home for 20 years. She was an excellent cook who made apple pies, biscuits, and collard greens that were out of this world; everyone enjoyed her food! She loved spending time with kids doing arts and crafts. She was the Goody Bag Candy Queen. The kids knew they could always get candy from her if they asked. Georgette was known for helping anybody in need. Even though she herself was ill, she still took the time to help her community and church family. She was the pastor’s aid and a mother of the church. She was always being thoughtful and selfless. She was also known as an extravagant party planner by her loving daughter, Simone. She possessed a talent for piecing together beautifully matched pieces from head to toe. While having a green thumb, she grew nourishing gardens consisting of tomatoes, peppers, collard greens, cabbage, string beans, and cucumbers. Georgette's love and dedication to her family was unwavering. As a mother to Robert Wayne Branham, Simone Branham, and James Glenndale Branham, she worked tirelessly to provide for their every need and want. She was always there as they grew, ready to listen and offer a comforting word. Her home was an open door, a safe haven for her children. Georgette is preceded by her parents Granville & Sarah Bailey, her son Robert Wayne Branham, and her siblings Sarah Bailey, Brinton Bailey, and Leonard Bailey. She leaves to cherish her children, Simone Branham and James Branham (Crystal); her grandchildren, Lamar M. Cox, Sayon, Shonti, &Wesley Lembrick, Yolanda Hayes, Maya Aponte, Diamond Forbes, great-grandchildren Akelia Joy Cox, and Tymira Cox, great-great-grandchild Adrian T. McClain. her siblings Irene Cook (Charles), Roselyn Bailey (Tyrone), Diane Bailey, Bobby Bailey (Leila), and Juanita Rudolph (Terry) One, Goddaughter Kyonta McKoy, a host of nieces and nephews, four lifelong friends Christine Crushfield, Hilda Cohen, Jen, and Debby Jackson.
