Bryan DuValle Coage, affectionately known as “Bark” and “Barkley”, was born on February 13, 1969, in Queens, NY to Allen and Lorraine Coage. Bryan attended Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, NJ, where he played his beloved sport of basketball. He then attended Union County College and University of Maryland-Eastern Shore as a college athlete. He later returned to Roselle, where he coached and refereed basketball with various teams over the years. His passion for basketball was shared with youth and athletes through mentorship and basketball clinics. He was a diehard New York Knicks and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and sneakerhead…he LOVED some sneakers, playing cards, going to the casino, eating out, grilling, and spending time with his family and friends. Bryan was always a prankster!
As a popular neighborhood barber, Bryan was also a prolific artist who would use his artistry while cutting hair as well as through paintings and clothing designs. During his career as a barber, he would often provide guidance, be a listening ear, and a shoulder to lean on. He could also talk for hours on sports, politics, Islam and Christianity, and any other topic you could think of. Bryan was the best son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, nephew, Trusted confidant, and dear friend to many.
Meeting Bryan in heaven is his father Allen, his brother Martin, and his sisters Nancy and Dawn. He leaves to carry on his legacy, his mother Lorraine, bonus dad Henry Patrick, his sisters Tonya (James); Ronda, April, Lynnette (Robert), and Francis; his brothers Michael (Yolanda) and Allen; his sons Halim (Mariella) and Richard; his grandsons Ahmad and Ahsiah; and a whole host of nieces and nephews and special friends Walt and Cynthia Johnson, Kevin “Dewey” Hodge, and Glenn Davis.
