Alnecia J. Paul

Alnecia Janeen Paul was born on July 21, 1970 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Mrs. Johnnie Mae Paul and the late Joseph “Eddie” Paul. Alnecia was affectionately known as “Niecy” to her family and friends. The youngest child of five, Alnecia’s personality made her more than just the baby of the bunch. She was smart, quiet and very easygoing. While developing a very close knit relationship and bond, Niecy was raised with Eugene Law and Yolanda White-Moyd as siblings. Growing up in Linden, NJ, Niecy attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School until she transitioned to Linden Public Schools for High School. Niecy enjoyed fashion and loved to dress. As a young girl, she took ballet and dance for several years. During her teenage years, her love for music, especially R&B, blossomed and led to her very own version of House Party, where she would host parties in her parents’ basement for her friends to gather, dance and socialize. Niecy graduated from Linden High School in 1988 and immediately thereafter attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. As a young adult, Niecy entered the work field in the data entry sector. With great work ethics and ambition, Niecy became an entrepreneur, where she opened and operated her black-owned business, Ken’s & Niecy’s Corner, for years in her hometown of Linden, NJ. Niecy worked at UPS for the last 17 years until her passing. Niecy was a quiet, reserved woman who loved spending her down time watching Lifetime movies. She was also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and made sure to watch her team play whenever she could. She loved to cook; her potato salad and peach cobbler was often requested by her family and friends. Her love for dogs started at a young age with her pets Clee Clee and Serge but a gift from her daughter LaShay is when she found her fur bestie, Kash. Niecy accomplished a lot in her life, but nothing made her more proud and gave her joy than being a mother to LaShay and Shaan. On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Alnecia Janeen Paul departed this earthly life at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey. In addition to her father, Joseph Paul, Niecy was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene Law and Richard Law and one sister, Sarah “Freda” White. Niecy leaves to cherish with fond memories, her mother, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Paul of Linden, New Jersey; one daughter, LaShay Durham of Linden, New Jersey; one son, Shaan Miller of South Plainfield, New Jersey; one sister, Adriane Paul of Eastampton, New Jersey; one grandson, Quin Forbes; her best friend Qamar Kimbrough, her sister circle: Virginia Streets, Kim Solomon, Gina Holmes-Marrow and Rosalyn Danzey; two bonus sons: Shane Hughes and Allen Owens & a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
